Free Covid Testing 1/4 – Register Now!

Greetings Steamboat Montessori Staff & Families,

I hope all of you are having a wonderful Holiday break! We will be returning to school when some families may have traveled outside of Routt county, hosted individuals from outside Routt county and have spent more time indoors with others.

As a school community we need to be increasingly cautious to keep staff/students safe and protect in-person learning. Steamboat Montessori is proud to announce we have partnered with Covid Check Colorado to offer FREE mid nasal swab PCR testing on Monday, Jan 4th to our staff students and families!

While this testing is not mandated our hope is our community will take advantage of this FREE service! Our testing partner, COVID Check Colorado (CCC) is a partner with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE). You can visit their website for further information including privacy practices, HIPPA & information on frequently asked questions.

How will the PCR testing be conducted?

We have contracted with COVID Check Colorado to conduct our PCR testing. We have a team of 4-5 parent volunteer nurses who will perform mid-nasal PCR tests on campus in an outdoor, drive through site. Tests will then be overnighted to the COVID Check Colorado lab and results are currently available between 24-48 hours.

Process for Testing

The tests administered by CCC are a nasal swab. CCC has advised that families should prepare their child(ren) for the test.  The nasal swab test requires a cotton swabbing of the nasal passages. In medical terms, this is called a mid-turbinate swabbing. Families should know that this test is not the more invasive nasopharyngeal swabbing. Students will use a self-swabbing technique unless they are unable to do so, or would prefer for the medically trained professional to do so. The swab does not go higher than their finger can pick. Please watch this video together to understand the process.
