Dear Parents,
The Board of Directors is very pleased to announce Emily Barnhart as our next Head of School at Steamboat Montessori! Emily is a seasoned educator, instructional coach, school leader, and most recently, served as Assistant Principal at Soda Creek Elementary. She has a long history with our school, as a founding Board member, parent, and current member of the Student Accountability Committee.
In Emily’s own words, “Being the HOS at Steamboat Montessori will be my opportunity to support the empowerment and preparation of future generations. I am ready and excited to take on this great responsibility and be held accountable for leading the staff and families in achieving “education reimagined” that was envisioned in the early days of the school.”
We were fortunate to receive several applications for this vacancy, which were evaluated by the Head of School Search Committee, composed of Board, staff and parent representatives, against minimum and preferred qualifications. After a thorough review of resumes, essay responses, and multiple interviews, the Search Committee as well as the Board of Directors were unanimous and enthusiastic in the selection of Emily as our incoming school leader. The Board would like to thank our Committee volunteers for their hard work and thoughtful consideration during this process.
We are excited to extend an opportunity to our community to meet Emily, and hear from her directly at a Town Hall Thursday, March 10th at 5:15pm. Per Colorado law, a 14 day public comment period is to occur between identification and the official hiring of the leader of a non-profit organization. This period is intended to allow the community time to meet and provide feedback on the next leader, if desired. Our 14 day comment period has commenced with this announcement. Emily’s first official day will be on April 1st. We will be working with Michael Girodo on a transition plan for his leadership, and provide those details in a separate communication later this month. We hope to see you at the Town Hall on March 10th (a recording will be posted to our website), and we look forward to welcoming Emily Barnhart as our next Head of School!
