IMPORTANT UPDATE/CLARIFICATION:Schoolwide COVID Testing January 4th: We will be offering free PCR COVID tests to all our students and staff on Monday, January 4th! We are working with COVID Check Colorado and will be sending out more information as we implement the program. Testing is one of the best ways we can ensure our community is safe to return to school and maintain in-person learning. The test is a mid-turbinate nasal swab and is not as invasive as other tests. We will have health professionals on campus to administer tests or staff/students can self-administer the test after watching a video. While teachers and students are waiting for COVID test results, teachers will be teaching virtually through google meet and providing lessons in SeeSaw and/or GoogleClassroom. There is no school on Monday, but students are expected to attend virtual lessons on Tuesday and complete specials (Spanish, Art, PE) lessons on SeeSaw Wednesday. Teachers will share meeting times for Tuesday, January 5 during the winter break. Students who do not log on will be marked absent.

NO SCHOOL FOR PRESCHOOL on Tuesday & Wednesday, January 5th & 6th.Kinder – 5th grade is in remote learning on Tuesday & Wednesday, January 5th & 6th.All students with a negative COVID test who are symptom- free will return to back to in-person learning on Thursday, January 8th

HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR FIRST TERM:We are at the end of our first semester and we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for. Here is a list of our most recent accomplishments. The Board voted unanimously at the 12/11 meeting to expand into Middle School! We will offer a 6th grade next year and build into the 8th grade by 2023-24. Huge kudos to the Middle School Task Force for their tireless work. CSI has awarded us a 5-year contract renewal, the longest term offered, based on our high-quality academics, finances, organization, and governance. Steamboat Montessori is once again a ‘School of Distinction’ for the 20-21 year. We rank in the top 20% of schools based on our student achievement and growth. The Annual Fund has exceeded its goal of $45,000 and has made it possible for us to approve 2 bonuses for our amazing teachers! Thank you all for your generosity. We are still working towards our second goal of 100% participation. Keep those envelopes and donations coming! We have realized over $50,000 in new funds through a variety of grants and have been able to hire Betsy Baur who is our part-time Grant Writer. From all of us at Steamboat Montessori, we wish you a joy-filled holiday and hope that you find creative ways to connect with your loved ones.In gratitude and unity, Michael
